Virgin Fest

Didn't post for a while because I went with my friend Kate to the Virgin Mobile Festival&then was recovering from soreness from all of that standing up(&somewhat boogy-age)..

but it was fun/amazing!

Day 1:

First we saw Cat Power who was amazing&after a bit went over to see KT Tunstall's performance which was equally amazing.  Stood a bit awkwardly outside of the dance tent for a bit,we then saw Lupe Fiasco(who was also freakin AMAZING!)then we went to Sharon Jones&the Dap Kings&that was cool.  Then we saw Rodrigo y Gabriela & on our way to get dinner walked right by KT Tunstall! So when we came back Kate went to get her autograph&whatnot while I feasted on the delicious,overpriced pita. I love how she was down in the crowd with all us plebs ^.^

later we saw Citizen Cope(which Kate&I thought was all emo[bad,annoying kind not the good kind] but really turned out to be good&I discovered I knew some songs)while waiting for WILCO,&then practically sprinted(ok not really)to get a good spot for WILCO.  I got pushed by a few drunk people during WILCO's set&people were already trying to get forward for Jack Johnson -.- so I ended up giving a few people the side-eye...but later we went over to the Foo Fighters which was amazing(*sigh* Dave Grohl)

Day 2:

Got there early&saw a bit of Andrew Bird and checked out Shudder to Think because we were interested..then went off to get a good spot for She&Him..ahhhhh Zooey Deschanel&M. Ward were great&one of her backup singers sang a song of her own for a bit,apparently people thought lil wayne was in the audience(ummm it wasn't him)&yelled "we want weezy" during the performance.  A lot of people were throwing the beach balls around&I really wanted to punch someone because it kept landing on my head(Kate counted 11 times that it hit her in the head)...I really wanted to deflate it&rip it to shreds...as soon as everyone walked off stage people began to push because they wanted to be up front for Lil Wayne...so the people up front(including Kate&I)were pushed against each other(errr it was rather uncomfortable with someone's butt on my stomach)...but a high point was when one girl was trying to push forward&a guy behind us said "GET  THE FUCK BACK YA SMELLY BITCH!"&I nearly collapsed with laughter...but anyway my friend Kate said that we'll pretend I'm sick so that we could get out...so Award winning performances by my friend and I while we made our way to the crowd while I made a I'm-going-to-be-sick-maybe-all-over-your-shoes face(one really nice person said "Feel better!"...felt a little bad)...so we got out(high fives)&went over to what we found out was Taking Back Sunday(me:hee hee yay! Kate: -.-)&then went back to wait for Lil Wayne(who was so late!people started booing)&when he finally came out was perhaps a bit sloshed...

We later left to see Iggy and the Stooges...errr Iggy Pop was also quite sloshed but in a "o-ho-ho what fun!" way,what i mean is he didn't suck because of it&even..humped...an amp which was,I'm not gonna lie, completely hilarious.

Later we went to see Bob Dylan,but the camera man wasn't on stage so the person who was supposed to be Bob Dylan could have been some random guy that does a good Bob Dylan impression with an Amish man's hat...but anyway it was good

Then we popped over to Moby's DJ Set...for some reason I thought that they were just going to play his music but he was there with all of the techno glory which was cool. 

Much later we went to see Kanye West's set& he was only HALF AN HOUR LATE(instead of two  hours like at Bonnaroo)which made Kate&I happy because we wouldn't have to miss his set! And he was REALLY GOOD! Except this drunken guy elbowed me in the neck while motioning&this short man shoved me aside to get to the front....

The next couple of days there were aches&pains here and there&an oddly speckled leg(weird tan). There were bigger names this year which made it a bit different from last year's vibe...but I found out that the one I went to last year was only the 2nd Virgin Fest...anyway it was really fun with amazing performances.

P.S. I forgot to mention we saw NIN for a bit...they were good but I didn't get to hear any of my favorites before we left...
